Raising money for food and vet care

Henry Co GA received a call about starving horses on a rambling piece of property and arrived to find a nightmare. A previously successful trail riding business left a herd out to starve. Studs, mares, pregnant mares, mares with babies still at their side -all left with no food. It is beyond sad. They have no barn, no shed, no way to get out of our nasty wet and cold weather we have had. The moms are trying their best to protect and care for their little babies.

One horse has already died. The remainder have been seized and will be held until a court issues a release order. Help is needed to care for them all. They must be fed very carefully and slowly and special food and hay is needed. Of course this all costs money, and no one budgets for 26 abandoned and starving horses.

3 have been removed from the property, including one mare with a body score of .75, and a mare with a baby with a body score of 1. ( Thursday night). More will be removed Friday and we will post updates as it happens.

ANY funds raised will go to the care for the entire group of horses seized. If any funds remain, they will be donated to a 501(c) 3 horse rescue organization.

Update: March 1st- 3 more horses were removed from the property, including a sorrel mare with a little baby. Everyone has settled in nicely and they are enjoying days out in the sun and and warm comfy stalls at night. Feedings have been increased to 4 times a day, and the babies are receiving their own little rations so mom doesn't get all the grain. The vet was out this weekend and gave everyone a good check up. The little paint baby is not well enough that we can wean her from mom. We are proceeding with care per vet instructions. All the horses are being easy to handle and of course are loving their meals ! Big Thanks to Randy and Wanda Johnson who came out to help feed, clean stalls, bed stalls, treat their rain rot, and turn out. It takes hours to get this all done and we greatly appreciate your volunteering of your time to assist.
